KANSAS STATE RPI WATCH: 01/07/15

In which conference play begins for almost every K-State opponent and Iowa State lays a big fat egg in Brooklyn.

Uh, what the heck was THAT, Iowa State? You lost to South Carolina?

Last weekend was the beginning of conference play for most teams, including eight of the 10 Big 12 schools.

Those who opened conference play with a win were Arizona, Nebraska-Omaha (who subsequently lost), Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Texas, Texas Southern and West Virginia.

Opening day losers were Baylor, Pittsburgh, Southern Utah, TCU (the Horned Frogs' first loss of the season), Texas Tech and our own Wildcats.

In non-conference action, Savannah State and UMKC both continued long losing streaks, while Long Beach State finally won its sixth game, but only by beating up on a Division II team.

Kansas netted another quality win, over UNLV, while Iowa State suffered a loss even more embarrassing than losing to Mark Turgeon: Losing to Frank Martin and his substandard South Carolina program. ISU is an enigma.
