KANSAS STATE RPI WATCH: 12/09/14

In which the Big 12 wins the SEC-Big 12 Challenge, with no help from Kansas State or Oklahoma State, and Arizona, Georgia and Texas A&M all net huge intersectional wins at home.

Late last week was good for former K-State coaches, with Frank Martin blowing out Oklahoma State to give the Pokes their first loss and Brad Underwood blasting Long Beach State by an even bigger margin.

Unfortunately, it was not so good for K-State's RPI and strength of schedule. In addition to those setbacks, UMKC was blistered again, Purdue was stunned at home by North Florida and Memphis obliterated Bradley.

On the positive side, Arizona picked up a huge quality win in overtime against Gonzaga, while Georgia and Texas A&M each topped Pac-12 opponents. Savannah State and Southern Utah had rare wins, as well.

The Big 12 won the SEC-Big 12 Challenge with a 6-4 record, but I thought we really could have done better. 8-2 was attainable. The pair of road flops on Saturday notwithstanding, West Virginia has to be kicking itself right now.
