KANSAS STATE RPI WATCH: 12/29/14

The entire Big 12 was out of action from Christmas through the weekend, save for one turnover-prone, sloppy, lethargic bunch of underachievers clad in purple.

The only positive there is that the win was so good, Texas Southern moved temporarily into the RPI Top 100 and as such is not technically a "bad loss." That won't last, though. Much has been said about the loss, so we move on.

UMKC avoided falling to 4-10 with a surprising two-overtime win at a Missouri Valley team. Oddly enough, the Roos have at least half of their wins on the road, where they usually play much better than in Kansas City.

Bradley and Tenessee both collected wins, as well, but of special note was Georgia's three-overtime survival of a Mercer team that Tennessee beat fairly handily. Hopefully, that means the Bulldogs are beatable in Bramlage.

Southern Utah lost yet again, which is nothing new, but Long Beach State really is a better team than the 49ers are playing like against a rough schedule.

It's not just that they lost their third straight road game (with a fourth likely on the way at Louisville); it's the fact that they're getting blown out in a way that they did not in a narrow loss/almost-win at San Diego State.
