Aaron Bennett was an extremely late addition to the 2013 roster — we didn't even know he was coming to K-State until July 18, when GoPowercat.com reported the story of his unusual situation (premium link).

In a nutshell, he signed with Texas Tech out of JUCO last spring and was set to be a Red Raider. But somehow, a bunch of his credits didn't transfer correctly and Tech dropped him like a hot potato. That left him searching for...

...a JUCO-friendly school where the credits would transfer, preferably still within the Big 12 Conference. Booyah!

Because his decision to "transfer" from Tech didn't occur until after National Signing Day, Bennett will not be able to suit up for us this season and has to take a redshirt. But that's OK — he wasn't going to see much playing time.

Bennett's time will come next year, when we graduate senior tackles William Cooper, Cornelius Lucas and Tavon Rooks. We'll need to someone to step in on one side of the O-line or the other, and Bennett is a primary option.

He helped to pace Riverside College to a 9-2 record in 2012 and a victory over LA Harbor in the Golden State Bowl.

Bennett graded out at 94 percent with 48 pancakes and 68 knockdowns. Watch his highlights here. Here's what Tech's offensive line coach had to say about him back in February:

Aaron has great size and length along with great feet. He has the ability to redirect exceptionally well and has a ton of potential.
