Joseph Bonugli (b. April 4, 1991) is an athletic and hard-hitting defensive back who saw his playing time increase last season after injury problems. He redshirted in 2010 and did not play in 2011 after a season-ending injury.

But in 2012, Bonugli finally broke through to see the field. He played in 10 games, mostly on special teams, and collected four tackles — three of those against Texas Tech. The other one came against Missouri State.

Bonugli was rated the 50th-best safety in the class of 2008 by Rivals.com and amassed 194 total tackles during his last two seasons in high school. If healthy, he looks to have a solid chance at entering the three-deep at safety.
