Last night wasn't much fun. But let's not discuss that here. Morse has an excellent post recapping the game here.
Even for a disappointed bunch, the first Saturday of college football is a magical day. And for a Big 12 fan, there are a couple good matchups to keep an eye on. Full Big 12 schedule is below.
Friday
Texas Tech 41, SMU 23, Arlington, Texas (Cowboy Stadium): Kliff Kingsbury gets his first win as a head coach over Southern Methodist.
Saturday
West Virginia vs. William & Mary, Morgantown, W.Va. (Milan Puskar Stadium), 11:00 a.m., FS1
Oklahoma State vs. Mississippi State, Houston, Texas (Reliant Stadium), 2:30 p.m., ABC
Oklahoma vs. Louisiana-Monroe, Norman, Okla. (Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadim), 6:00 p.m., FSN PPV
Baylor vs. Wofford, Waco, Texas (Floyd Casey Stadium), 6:30 p.m., FSN
Texas vs. New Mexico State, Austin, Texas (Royal-Memorial Stadium), 7:00 p.m., LHN
Iowa State vs. Northern Iowa, Ames, Iowa (Jack Trice Stadium), 7:00 p.m., Cyclones TV
TCU vs. LSU, Arlington, Texas (Cowboys Stadium), 8:00 p.m., ESPN
Cheer HARD for Oklahoma State (gag) and TCU. Nothing less than the Big 12's perception this year is on the line in those games.
SB Nation has a full weekend viewing schedule here. No game stand out as particularly interesting, but I'll probably keep an eye on the Rice game for whatever the MOB and Johnny Chocopockets are up to. The Big 12 has as good a set of opening games as anyone, which is a little sad.
