#83 Ed Brown |
Position: Defensive Back Previous College: None Projection: Third-String Status: Preferred Walk-On |
Edward Lee Brown (b. Dec. 25, 1990) generated a little buzz in August 2010 as a wide receiver, but not enough to avoid the near-inevitable redshirt that most incoming freshmen must succumb to under Bill Snyder.
He caught two passes for 24 yards for the White team in the 2011 spring game. That didn't exactly herald a breakout freshman season. Instead, Brown was switched to defensive back and only saw action against Kent State.
Then in 2012, he didn't even see the field. Although most would be tempted to write Brown off as a non-factor at this point, I'm not. Looking at the cornerback depth chart, he appears somewhere in the top six if all freshmen redshirt.
Of course, if they don't all bets are off, but I still think he finally breaks through and collects some reserve playing time this year, at least on special teams.
