#4 Dorrian Roberts |
Position: Defensive Back Previous College: Hutchinson Community College Projection: Starter Status: Walk-On |
Dorrian Tremaine Roberts (b. Oct. 23, 1990) is a walk-on defensive back from Hutchinson Community College. He redshirted in 2011 and did not see any game action in 2012, leaving him one meaningful year to contribute.
Roberts collected 37 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, three pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and a blocked kick in 2010. He also earned first-team All-Jayhawk League and first-team All-Region VI honors.
Roberts helped the Blue Dragons to finish fifth in the final NJCAA poll after winning the Salt City Bowl over Eastern Arizona. As a freshman in 2009, he had 26 tackles, one interception, five pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
A four-year letter-winner at Wichita Heights High School under head coach Rick Wheeler, Roberts was an All-State performer by the Kansas Football Coaches Association in 2008.
He helped the Falcons to earn a 9-2 record, and win league and district championships, and also broke the school records for most career return yards, interceptions (nine) and pass breakups. He also carded 362 career tackles.
After the spring game, Roberts was being mentioned as likely to start at cornerback. Now it seems that Kip Daily has one spot locked up, and Carl Miles Jr. is battling Morgan Burns for the other one. Not sure what happened.
