#7 Judah Jones
|
Position: Wide Receiver Previous College: None Projection: Redshirt Status: On Scholarship |
Judah Jones is a speedy wide receiver who orignally signed with K-State out of high school in 2012 and enrolled in time for spring drills (grayshirted). He had two kickoff returns in the spring game, but no catches.
Jones recorded just more than 1,000 all-purpose yards and scored 16 touchdowns en route to all-district honors as a junior at Evangel Christian. He had 43 receptions for 728 receiving yards with six touchdowns as a senior.
He averaged 24 yards on eight kick returns in 2011, when Evangel advanced to the Louisiana 2A State semifinals.
Although he's a work in progress (hence the grayshirt), Jones certainly looks the part of a speedster. I suspect he will end up redshirting this season, but if he does see the field, it will be on special teams as a return specialist.
Fun fact: Jones plays the drums for the highly successful family Christian gospel band, forever JONES. His parents formed the band with their five children. The band was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2011.
