#19 Kody Cook |
Position: Quarterback Previous College: Hutchinson Community College Projection: Third-String Status: Preferred Walk-On |
Kody Cook, a midyear JUCO grad who enrolled in time for spring practice, should be our third-string quarterback in 2013. He was 1 of 5 passing for 8 yards in the spring game for the White team and rushed four times for 25 yards.
In 2012, Cook caught 41 passes for 386 yards for the Hutchinson Blue Dragons as a wide receiver. For those efforts, Cook was an honorable mention honoree on the All-Jayhawk and All-Region VI teams.
Then came the Salt City Bowl. For some reason, presumably due to an injury, Cook played the majority of the game at quarterback in place of Luke Barnes, who's now the quarterback at Troy. And man, did Cook ever put on a show.
Cook tied or broke no fewer than six Salt City Bowl records with 276 yards of total offense, 272 passing yards, 20 completions, 30 pass attempts, a .667 pass completion percentage and five passing touchdowns. He had one INT.
It seems the position of backup to the backup is in capable hands for Kansas State. You can follow Cook on Twitter here, watch his Hudl highlight videos here or watch his record-setting bowl performance here.
