Will Geary has the potential to be a huge steal for us as a walk-on defensive tackle who has been with the team all summer. A lot of posters on GoPowercat.com think he will end up doing great things for the Cats.

A 2012 All-City League first-team pick at defensive lineman for Topeka High School, Geary was named to The Topeka Capital-Journal and VarsityKansas.com 2012 Top 11 teams. You can read more about him here.

He also was picked as an All-State 6A first-team offensive lineman by Capital-Journal and VarsityKansas.com, and was named the Kansas Class 6A Defensive Player of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year in Topeka.

Geary, who was selected to play in the 2013 Kansas Shrine Bowl, was the back-to-back 6A state wrestling champion in the 285-pound class. He also has won a national heavyweight wrestling crown.

The defending 6A state powerlifting champion, Geary also participated in baseball, and track and field.

One GPC poster said he led this year's defensive line in 40 time and squatted 660 pounds, also tops for the defensive line. He's been described as a Tank Reese-type of player, which would be just fine with me.

I love Geary's makeup and wrestlers always make really good football players for us, it seems, but I'm not quite as bullish on him as some. I think he at least redshirts this year. If he does see the field, it'll be in goal-line situations.

Oh, and now for the icing on the cake: Geary hails from a seriously Jayhawk family and his grandfather is a legendary poster on the KUSports.com message board. Ol' "badair" is none too happy with Charlie Weis, either.

The poor man has had to buy K-State gear and will be forced to pay attention to our games now. Oh, the horror!
