#20 DeMarcus Robinson |
Position: Running Back Previous College: None Projection: Third-String Status: On Scholarship |
Henry DeMarcus Robinson (b. Oct. 29, 1991) is a shifty and elusive back who should compete for playing time as he continues to develop. He finally broke through and saw the field in 2012, although not much.
Robinson once looked as if he had the potential to be another Darren Sproles, based on his build, high school exploits and video highlights. This four-star running back was the jewel of the 2010 recruiting class.
However, undisclosed personal issues reportedly had him flirting with the idea of leaving the team in 2011.
He remained on the team, but was well behind John Hubert, Angelo Pease and Robert Rose on the depth chart at running back last season. Most likely, his blocking skills and work ethic held him back, because the kid can run.
Robinson made a bit of a splash in the 2012 spring game spring with his 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Then in 2012, he played in three games, totaling 25 yards on six carries. He rushed three times for 20 yards, including a long of 9 yards, against Miami; for 3 yards at West Virginia; and once for 2 yards against Texas Tech.
Robinson rushed for a Wichita City League season-high 1,720 yards as a senior and for nearly 5,000 yards in his career at Wichita Northwest, putting him up there with Bryce Brown and Barry Sanders as all-time Air Capital greats.
That earned him multiple first-team Class 6A honors and a Kansas Shrine Bowl invitation, as well as a ranking by Rivals.com as the 18th-best running back in his class. And this season, it's time for him to attain his potential.
