Bio

Position: Defensive End

Previous College: Cerritos Community College

Projection: Second-String

Status: On Scholarship

Alauna Finau (b. July 13, 1992) was an extremely late addition to the 2012 class who wasn't even acknowledged anywhere on the official K-State athletics website at this point last year.

He performed pretty well in limited action last season until he injured his knee against Oklahoma State and missed the rest of the season. Hopefully, has rehabilitation has progressed well and he can have a good senior year.

Finau's is an interesting story. His brother, John Finau, was lined up to play for Ron Prince in the 2007 class, but John never had sufficient grades to enroll at K-State. Now his brother gets to live that dream instead.

Finau was brought in to provide depth at defensive end and, while I think Marquel Bryant and Ryan Mueller will end up the eventual starters, there's no reason why Finau can't compete for a second-string spot.

That means he'll be vying with inexperienced players such as Laton Dowling, Devon Nash and DeAndre Roberts.

As a sophomore at Cerritos, Finau recorded 36 tackles, nine tackles for loss, six quarterback sacks and 21 quarterback hurries. Last year, he had seven tackles, half a tackle for loss, half a sack and a quarterback hit.
