#30 Corey Jackson |
Position: Defensive Back Previous College: None Projection: Redshirt Status: Walk-On |
Corey Jackson is a walk-on defensive back from Central High School in St. Joseph. He was in here for spring practice, which makes him sort of like a grayshirt, but I believe he is a walk-on, so there's no scholarship to defer.
He popped up on most radars when he returned an interception 55 yards for the White team in the spring game.
This was no ordinary interception. Jackson had the audacity to pick off possible starting quarterback Daniel Sams.
If nothing else, it showed Jackson is pretty fearless when playing defensive back, which is something every good defensive back needs in the Big 12 Conference. He also tallied four tackles in the later stages of the game.
I liked what little I saw of Jackson's game, and since we usually have three cornerbacks on the field at any given time, he's got a chance at a little playing time this fall. But we're deep enough with seniors that he should redshirt.
