Tavon Rooks (b. May 10, 1990) should, hopefully, lock down the right tackle position this season. He started every game in 2012 from Missouri State to Baylor, but injury and consistency concerns cost him his position at the end.

Still, West Virginia's (and Pittsburgh's) loss was our gain. Even though Rooks had the previous spring under his belt, it's still a difficult transition to come out of community college and end up starting in the Big 12 Conference.

But now it's time for him to take the next step. Adding 10 pounds in the offseason was a pleasant start.

Rooks was rated as the No. 23 junior college player in the country by Rivals.com and is considered by many to have been the top pass blocker in 2012 among available junior college offensive linemen.

He helped to lead Navarro to a 21-3 record in two seasons, including a national title in 2010 and a No. 5 national ranking in 2011. Navarro had the No. 5 ranked passing offense with Rooks on the line in 2011.
