#74 Kason Hostrup |
Position: Offensive Line Previous College: None Projection: Second-String Status: On Scholarship |
Kason Kai Hostrup (Nov. 27, 1991) took a grayshirt in 2010, redshirted in 2011 and only saw action last year against Miami, but he looks set to advance to second-string status as a backup tackle if he can hold off our freshmen.
I think Hostrup is one of those underrated recruits Rivals.com tends to undervalue because they're undersized or can't make grades, whatever the case may be.
He's a textbook grayshirt who already has three springs under his belt. Bill Snyder has a habit of turning those kinds of players into solid contributors, and sometimes superstars.
But offensive linemen are so hard to project in how they will develop, so I'm not really making any bold predictions about Hostrup's future one way or the other.
Prior to his arrival at K-State, Hostrup was named a Texas Top 20 offensive lineman by TexasFootball.com in 2009 as a senior at Sachse High School.
He also was named to the District 10-5A first-team as a senior and to Prep Star's All-Region team, as well as being named a second-team academic all-state selection at Sachse.
