#42 Austin Butterfield |
Position: Tight End Previous College: None Projection: Redshirt Status: Preferred Walk-On |
Austin Butterfield is a preferred walk-on tight end who was announced as part of the 2013 signing class even though he is not on scholarship. At just 207, calling him a tight end is generous. This boy better live in the weight room.
Butterfield played for the Aurora Grandview Wolves under head coach John Schultz and his team advanced to the semifinals of the Class 5A state championship in Colorado one season.
He personally hauled in 10 receptions for 96 yards and one touchdown, and also was named a first-team all-league punter after averaging 33 yards on 35 punts. So there's some versatility there we might be able to exploit.
If nothing else, he at least provides another body at punter if Mark Krause and Ethan Hammes don't work out.
