Evan Loomis (b. Oct. 14, 1991) is the younger brother of last year's special teams captain and linebacker, Jared Loomis. He redshirted last season while making the unusual transition from wide receiver to linebacker.
He played two years for the Dodge City Conquistadors for head coach Bob Majeski as a wide receiver and tight end.
An honorable-mention All-Jayhawk Conference tight end in 2011, Loomis caught 37 passes for 465 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed nine times for 54 yards and made six special teams tackles.
He lettered three years in high school, led his team to a 13-0 record and 2007 Kansas Eight-Man Division I state title as a sophomore, and played in both the Kansas Eight-Man and Kansas vs. Nebraska all-star games.
He enjoyed the best year of his career as a senior, when he caught 32 passes for 429 yards and nine touchdowns, while carding 116 tackles and picking off five passes. He also lettered four years in basketball and track.
