#87 Andre Jackson |
Position: Tight End Previous College: West Hills Community College Projection: Scout Team Status: Walk-On |
Andre G. Jackson (b. Aug. 15, 1991) played two seasons at West Hills Community College under head coach Cal Tincher. He redshirted last season at K-State and converted from wide receiver to tight end.
Jackson played quarterback and wide receiver for West Hills in 2011, hauling in 14 passes for 134 yards while throwing for 257 yards and three touchdowns on 20-of-49 aim. He also played in three games during 2010.
Jackson played for Miami Norland High School under head coach Nigel Dunn, and led the Vikings to a 7-5 record and a district runner-up finish in 2009. He graduated in the top 6 percent of his senior class.
Although his statistics perhaps were modest, he has a very good physical presence. He's basically the same size as Collin Klein, both height and weight, so he gives us a more physical receiver than most of the rest of the roster.
Oh, and his sibling, Travell Dixon, is a four-star JUCO cornerback who once played for Alabama.
Jackson did not appear in the spring game, but we think that was due to a possible injury. Given that uncertainty and his recent position change, it's hard to pencil him in above any of our three scholarship tight ends right now.
