The AP has announced their 2013 All-Big 12 Teams, and Tyler Lockett leads the way by taking up two spots.

Today the Associated Press unveiled their 2013 All-Big 12 Teams. These aren't the "official" honorees, as the conference polls the coaches for that; this is the media selection. Kansas State had six honorees, three each on the first- and second-teams; honorable mentions weren't included.

First-Team Offense
(bold indicates unanimous selection)
QB Bryce Petty Baylor JR
RB Lache Seastrunk Baylor JR
RB James Sims Kansas SR
WR Antwan Goodley

WR Tyler Lockett Kansas State JR
TE Jace Amaro Texas Tech JR

OL Parker Graham Oklahoma State SR
C Gabe Ikard Oklahoma SR
OL Trey Hopkins Texas SR
OL Le'Raven Clark Texas Tech SO
AP Tyler Lockett Kansas State JR
K Anthony Fera Texas SR
Offensive Player of the Year: Bryce Petty, Baylor

Very little surprising here, but the second team, which will get to in a moment, might cause a blink or two.

First-Team Defense
(bold indicates unanimous selection)
DL Jackson Jeffcoat
Texas
SR
DL Calvin Barnett
Oklahoma State
SR
DL Ryan Mueller
Kansas State
JR
DL Cedric Reed
Texas JR
LB Jeremiah George

SR
DB Aaron Colvin
Oklahoma SR
DB Ty Zimmerman
Kansas State
SR
DB Justin Gilbert
Oklahoma State
SR
P Spencer Roth
Baylor JR
Defensive Player of the Year: Jackson Jeffcoat, Texas

The big surprise here is that Kirby Van Der Kamp -- the only punter in the nation you're going to find on pretty much every draft board -- did not earn the first-team nod. Ryan Mueller was beaten out for Defensive Player of the Year, but I think we all recognized that would be a close one.

Second-Team Offense
QB Clint Chelf
Oklahoma State
SR
RB Charles Sims
West Virginia
SR
WR Mike Davis
Texas SR
WR Tevin Reese
Baylor SR
WR Eric Ward
Texas Tech
SR
TE E.J. Bibbs
Iowa State
JR
OL Spencer Drango
Baylor SO
OL Quinton Spain
West Virginia
JR
C B.J. Finney Kansas State
JR
OL Cornelius Lucas
Kansas State
SR
OL Donald Hawkins
Texas SR
AP Charles Sims
West Virginia
SR
K Michael Hunnicutt
Oklahoma JR
Offensive Newcomer of the Year: Charles Sims, West Virginia

Maybe I'm just still traumatized from the season's opening month. I'm not one to complain about a Wildcat getting honored, but it surprised me to see Lucas get the nod here. I'd also have wanted to see Hubert in here, but given the three receivers honored pushing a second running back out, there's little cause for complaint.

Second-Team Defense
DL Chris McAllister
Baylor SR
DL Will Clarke
West Virginia
SR
DL Kerry Hyder
Texas Tech
SR
DL Charles Tapper
Oklahoma SO
LB Blake Slaughter
Kansas State SR
LB Bryce Hager
Baylor JR
LB Ben Heeney
Kansas JR
LB Shaun Lewis
Oklahoma State SR
DB Daytawion Lowe
Oklahoma State
SR
DB Sam Carter
Texas Christian
JR
DB Chris Hackett
Texas Christian SO
DB Ahmad Dixon
Baylor SR
P Nick O'Toole
West Virginia
SO
Defensive Newcomer of the Year: Dominique Alexander, Oklahoma

Still no Kirby. Weird. Also weird, Blake Slaughter, who didn't have a bad season but is probably being more rewarded for heart than anything here.

Thoughts? Complaints? Tears? Talk it over.
