K-State Slate: 12.13.13

Zimm's an All-American, and he might be ready for Michigan. Also, we got a new 'croot, and the indoor track season starts this weekend.

Previously on BotC:

Ty Zimmerman was named to USA Today's second-team All-America squad.

Football:

As Pan reported yesterday in comments, Itawamba CC cornerback Darius White has given an oral (and Twitter) commitment to K-State.

Another profile of Ryan Mueller by Ken Corbitt, and I'd be shocked if we don't see several more before the end of the year. Buried at the bottom, something important: Bill Snyder actually gave an injury status, naming Zimmerman as "possible" for the bowl game.

ESPN's Big Ten bloggers put together a profile of K-State, and they're really concerned about what Mueller's going to do to Michigan's offensive line.

Basketball:

Sunday is the ladies' final home game of 2013 against Cal-Santa Barbara, and K-State Sports has a preview. It's also Operation Santa, and they'll be collecting toys for Fort Riley's Operation Santa Claus toy drive. The game will be televised on FSN Central with Brian Smoller and Nicole Ohlde handling the microphones. As a result, we'll try and have a live game thread, so be forewarned.

Track and Field:

The indoor schedule starts this weekend at Ahearn with the Carol Robinson Winter Pentathlon on Friday and the K-State Winter Invitational on Saturday. Expected to invade Manhattan: Baker, Friends, Emporia State, Fort Hays State, UMKC, Oklahoma State (their men holding an explicit dual meet with the male TrackCats within the context of the larger event), and Nebraska-Omaha.

Other:

For those who wish we could play lesser non-conference tilts at Ahearn, this will just piss you off -- but it's a must read. Penn State's going back to its old stomping grounds at Rec Hall for Saturday's game against Princeton, and Black Shoe Diaries has a couple of pieces about the charm and insanity of the old dump. Not kidding, it's great stuff.

Some awards got handed out last night. None of them are coming back to Manhattan. Also, the Walter Camp All-American squad was announced, and the 'Cats came up empty there too.
