The Coyotes come to town hoping to halt the train of lumbering progress that is K-State's lurch through the non-conference schedule. South Dakota, a member of the mighty Summit League, is led by 6'1" junior guard Brandon Bos from Markham, Ontario, and his nearly 15 points a game. The Coyotes are in the odd situation of being led by an interim coach who actually took over two months before the season started, as Joey James had to step in to replace Dave Boots who suddenly retired as the academic year began after 24 years and 503 wins in Vermillion. James, a former Coyote player himself (who had transferred to South Dakota from Iowa Western, ominous music), had been an assistant on the staff for ten years.
This shouldn't be a challenge for the Wildcats, but then again neither should Northern Colorado (former conference-mates of the Coyotes, to make it worse). The team's grown some since opening night, though, and I expect the 'Cats to breeze tonight.
If not, Kitchen's meltdown will be epic.
