Real, live, FBS college football returns tonight. And yes, I threw in the FBS qualifier to avoid Morse's wrath.

K-State Football

The K-State offensive line is a mix of veterans, such as B.J. Finney and Nick Puetz, and newcomers like Keenan Taylor, Cornelius Lucas and Cody Whitehair.

Bill Snyder is challenging his team to make this season-opener less dramatic than previous games, like the 21-17 win over Massachusetts, or last year's 10-7 escape against Eastern Kentucky.

Baylor DT out

Starting defensive tackle Kaeron Johnson will miss the season for Baylor with a back injury. Anything that weakens an opponent's defense up the middle is probably to K-State's advantage.

Catching up (i.e., things I should have linked last week, but didn't)

I forgot to link the final two state of the union posts from Barking Carnival, for Oklahoma and Texas.

Cormac McCarthy stops by Wide Right Natty Lite to preview the Big 12.

The Marine and the Orphan

This is a long read, but it's well worth your time. It's the story of Rob Jones and Oksana Masters, two amputees from completely opposite backgrounds who are competing in the Paralympics.
