#4 Daniel Sams |
Position: Quarterback Previous College: None Projection: Second-String Status: On Scholarship |
Daniel Sams (b. Oct. 1, 1992) was the only quarterback to whom K-State offered a scholarship in the 2010 class.
Moreover, the coaches promised him it would remain that way. The question is why?
The answer: Sams is a freak athlete in the mold of Ell Roberson. In him, Bill Snyder likely saw the genesis of the next generation of dual-threat quarterbacks in Manhattan. This guy played six positions in high school.
Collin Klein is the present, deservedly so, but Sams represents the future, especially now that Tavarius Bender is gone.
Only one redshirt freshman, Allan Evridge, ever has played quarterback for Snyder on a regular basis, so don't expect Sams suddenly to jump out and be taking 10-15 snaps a game. That's Klein's job, for obvious reasons.
