#7 Kip Daily
|
Position: Defensive Back Previous College: Blinn Junior College Projection: Second-String Status: On Scholarship |
Archippus "Kip" Daily (b. Dec. 30, 1990) was my dark-horse candidate to start opposite of David Garrett at cornerback last year, but I vastly underrated the talent of Allen Chapman and Nigel Malone in so doing.
Instead, Daily settled for a redshirt year, but now that the reboot is over, I still think he can be a special player for us.
In fact, I hope he's so good that he can start and help to keep Chapman in the nickel role he so excelled at last season when he intercepted Brandon Weeden and took it back to the house.
But if Chapman ascends to starter status opposite Malone, I predict Daily will vie with Randall Evans for that role.
As a freshman, Daily played in 10 games for the Buccaneers as Cam Newton marched them to a national championship. Daily contributed 37 tackles, five interceptions and three fumble recoveries.
What's really crazy is that Daily grew up in College Station, attended A&M Consolidated High School and played two seasons at Blinn for Brad Franchione, who had recruiting ties to Texas A&M.
Yet Daily isn't an Aggie. Smart man.
