#51 Trace Armstrong |
Position: Linebacker Previous College: None Projection: Redshirt Status: Preferred Walk-On |
Trace Robert Armstrong (b. Jan. 15, 1994) transferred for his senior year from Wood River to Ravenna High School, where he helped Mark Hudson's team to a 6-3 record and playoff bid.
Armstrong might have walked on to the Huskers of yore, but ever since Bill Callahan cut back the walk-on program (a decision maintained by Bo Pelini, much to the consternation of some Nubb fans), kids such as him have come south.
Armstrong had 112 tackles in just nine games. He averaged 12.4 tackles per game for the Bluejays last year after transferring from Wood River. He likely will start out at outside linebacker, but possibly could move to defensive end.
Armstrong's cousin, Matt Gangwish, played for Kansas State in the 1990s. His stepbrother is a walk-on at Nebraska.
