Samuel David Johnson (b. July 29, 1992) seems like he's probably a decent fellow, despite bearing a disturbingly uncanny resemblance to the uber-hated Craig James. #CJK5H

Johnson is likely to serve as K-State's primary scout-team quarterback, after seeing a fair amount of playing time for the White team in the last two spring games. He completed 3 of 5 for 28 yards in 2011 and 3 of 7 for 31 this year.

The three scholarship quarterbacks ahead of Johnson on the depth chart will be needed for game action, either as starters or reserves, unless Tay Bender redshirts. If that happens, he'll be the scout QB and Johnson will be No. 3.

But given Bender exited spring as the No. 2 QB and didn't do anything to hurt his stock significantly, a redshirt might not be in the cards. As for Johnson being a co-No. 3 with Daniel Sams, I think that's just a motivational tactic.

That said, Johnson holds the Topeka city record for passing yardage. And Bill Snyder has spoken very highly of him this spring. Those count for a lot, in my humble opinion.
