#15 Randall Evans |
Position: Defensive Back Previous College: None Projection: Second-String Status: On Scholarship |
Randall Lemont Evans (b. Dec. 26, 1991) has impressed the coaches in practice since his redshirt season. So much so, in fact, that he apparently earned a scholarship this summer. His bio now describes him as a "former walk-on."
Evans came here with high credentials, having collected 115 total tackles and eight interceptions in his final two high school seasons.
Oh, and here's a little-known tidbit: When he first came to K-State, he was dating Michael Beasley's sister. I have no idea if they're still an item, though.
As a high school junior, Evans once ran a 200-meter race in 23.46 seconds. Here's a video of him putting that speed to good use on the football field.
There were some rumors floating around last year that Evans was challenging for a starting cornerback spot, especially if David Garrett had continued to play more of a safety/nickel back role this season.
Obviously, those rumors predated the arrival of Allen Chapman, who took over that role capably instead. But now that Chapman and Nigel Malone are the starting corners, it seems very possible that Evans will take that third spot.
