Carl Washington Miles (b. Nov. 2, 1990) signed with Georgia Tech over offers from FIU, K-State, Pitt, Tennessee and Troy. After transferring last summer, he sat out the 2011 season. He had three tackles in the spring game.

After redshirting in 2009, he appeared in seven games for the Yellow Jackets in 2010, but did not record any statistics. Apparently, things weren't working out for him in Atlanta, because he lost a year of eligibility to come here.

Miles prepped under head coach Mark Guandolo at Cypress Bay High School, where he helped to lead the team to a 20-4 record, and back-to-back district championships during his junior and senior seasons.

He recorded 36 tackles and five interceptions as a senior en route to All-Broward County honors, and was selected to play in the Dade vs. Broward All-Star Game.

Miles was rated the No. 8 cornerback in Florida in 2008 by Florida Football Magazine. He produced 31 tackles and three interceptions as a junior, and was one of four Cypress Bay seniors to sign with FBS schools in 2008.

Miles played two seasons of football and also ran track, serving as a team captain for both squads. He also played football and ran track at St. Thomas Aquinas before transferring to Cypress Bay.

In all, Miles helped to lead Cypress Bay to two district titles and St. Thomas Aquinas to one district crown, and he also was on the state runner-up team for St. Thomas Aquinas in 2006.

His speed and athleticism should come in handy in providing depth at the cornerback position. Anything more than that, and he will be almost as big a steal via transfer as Arthur Brown and Chris Harper.
