#20 DeMarcus Robinson |
Position: Running Back Previous College: None Projection: Special Teams Status: On Scholarship |
Henry DeMarcus Robinson (b. Oct. 29, 1991) looked for all the world as if he had the potential to be another Darren Sproles, based on his build, high school exploits and video highlights.
However, undisclosed personal issues reportedly had him flirting with the idea of leaving the team in 2011, which would have been rather tragic for us fans. This four-star back was the jewel of the 2010 recruiting class, after all.
He remained on the team, but was well behind John Hubert, Angelo Pease and Robert Rose on the depth chart at running back last season. Most likely, his blocking skills and work ethic held him back, because the kid can run.
Robinson rushed for a Wichita City League season-high 1,720 yards as a senior and for nearly 5,000 yards in his career at Wichita Northwest, putting him up there with Bryce Brown and Barry Sanders as all-time Air Capital greats.
That earned him multiple first-team Class 6A honors and a Kansas Shrine Bowl invitation, as well as a ranking by Rivals.com as the 18th-best running back nationally in his class. And he might not even see the field this year.
That said, Robinson made a bit of a splash in the spring with his 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, which was the White team's only legitimate score in the 2012.
