Hakeem Etti is a walk-on from Westside High School in Houston. I didn't know too much about him, other than that he rushed two times for eight yards in the 2012 spring game, so I set about Google-stalking.
What I found is that he is a pretty amazing young man, even if he never sets foot on the football field for us. I know I'll be rooting for him to have success. In addition to his personal struggles, he was named an Old Spice Player of the Year.
I'm not entirely sure about his status class-wise. His senior year was 2010-11, so he apparently sat out a year before enrolling at K-State in the spring. That should make him a true freshman, but he in effect took a grayshirt.
