55 DAYS TO KICKOFF: Adam Davis

As Robert Griffin III will attest, both Adam Davis and Ryan Mueller (40) can pack quite a punch. Both players will be key cogs in K-State's defensive line rotation in 2012, with Davis expected to be a full-time starting defensive end.

Adam Davis (b. Feb. 12, 1988) was a massive part of K-State's defensive improvement in 2011. Although I had muted hopes for him at this time last year, he seized a starting position and did not relinquish it the rest of the year.

Before he suffered a back injury in 2010 that forced him to redshirt and threatened his future career, the word on the street was that Davis was by far the best pass rusher on the roster.

While it's more accurate to say he shares that distinction to Meshak Williams, you still need more than one good pass rusher. And the pair of them will be deadly in 2012, I predict, now that each has a full season under his belt.

Davis finished the 2011 season with 34 tackles (23 solo, 11 assisted), eight tackles for loss, four sacks, two pass breakups and a forced fumble. If he can improve those numbers by an additional 50 percent, he'll be All-Big 12.
