Hunter Davis (b. Dec. 12, 1992) originally was part of the 2011 class, but like Demonte Hood, we learned very late in the summer that he actually would grayshirt during last season.
So he showed up instead for 2012 spring practice, but I haven't heard much about him since that point. At this time last year, I cautiously was optimistic that he could be a factor in the 2011 season. Now it appears he will redshirt.
Davis collected 59 tackles in his senior season (30 solo, 34 assisted) and three sacks. He was named to PrepStar magazine’s All-Midlands Region team in 2010, and participated in the Under Armour and U.S. Army combines.
He was named all-conference, all-district and all-state as a senior; was nominated for the Wendy’s Heisman Trophy for high school student-athletes; and also was a team captain.
Continuing the theme of NFL bloodlines that was so prevalent in the 2011 class, Davis is related distantly to New England Patriots WR Wes Welker. You can watch Davis' highlights here.
