Charles Jones (b. Jan. 20, 1994) was a fairly late and underrated addition to the 2012 class, so he seemed like a prime grayshirt candidate at the time. Now, with the news that Demonte Hood is grayshirting, I'm not so sure.
Jones was a three-year starter who rushed for 1,767 yards and 22 touchdowns while hauling in 31 passes for 321 yards during his senior season at Mandeville High School. He was an honorable-mention all-state pick by LSWA.
Jones also was named the New Orleans Player of the Week following a 213-yard performance against Parkway, and he accounted for nearly 700 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns as a junior.
At K-State, he will join fellow New Orleans-area Wildcats Cornelius Lucas, Torell Miller and Daniel Sams. Michael Smith has turned Louisiana into quite an intriguing pipeline for us, with Judah Jones hailing from Shreveport.
Assuming Jones does indeed enroll full-time this fall, I think it's pretty safe to mark him down for a redshirt year.
