#68 William Cooper |
Position: Offensive Line Previous College: None Projection: Third-String Status: On Scholarship |
William Cooper Jr. (b. Feb. 7, 1990) redshirted in Bill Snyder's second "first" season (2009) and played only sparingly the last two seasons as a reserve offensive lineman. He projects into a similar capacity this year.
Although I was skeptical at this time last year of Cooper's ability to play left tackle, he's gained 25 pounds since that time. While still a little short for the position at 6-foot-4, he probably could pull it off in a pinch.
I currently have him penciled in as the third-string left tackle. He was not in the two-deep during spring practice.
With the surprising departure of Manase Foketi, Cornelius Lucas and Ellwood Clement appear to be the favorites to end up guarding Collin Klein's blind side, but I wouldn't count Cooper out entirely.
Hopefully, our top two tackles will stay healthy all season and we won't ever need to find out.
