#76 Jordan Allred |
Position: Defensive Line Previous Colleges: Ventura College; Pierce Community College Projection: Scout Team Status: On Scholarship |
Jordan James Allred (b. Jan. 10, 1990) is an enigma wrapped in a conundrum wrapped in a riddle. I frankly have no idea what the hell's going on with him anymore. Is he even still on the team? Sometimes I wonder.
He came to K-State in 2010 as a multi-position player — an offensive tackle who could double as a long snapper.
Since we already had the gifted Corey Adams filling the latter role and quite a bit of depth at the former (and still do, really), Bill Snyder elected to redshirt Allred.
Thus, I entered spring practice in 2011 expecting Allred to compete at center, given his snapping proficiency, but we all were surprised to learn that Snyder instead moved him to defensive tackle, to shore up depth there.
Early reports were that he adjusted well to the position change and was bucking for playing time in that spring game, but the mystery that is Jordan Allred deepened further when he injured his knee.
He was held out of the spring game, and apparently almost all of the 2011 season, too. If he saw any playing time last year, it was marginal at best. Some even said he moved back to the offensive line.
Entering 2012, Allred again is a defensive tackle, but regardless of which line of scrimmage he calls home, the cumulative effect of injuries, inexperience and better players coming into the program should keep him sidelined.
He likely will be the third-string long snapper, however, so he's got that going for him, at least.
