#7 Kip Daily
|
Position: Defensive Back Previous College: Blinn Junior College Projection: Starter Status: On Scholarship |
Archippus "Kip" Daily (b. Dec. 30, 1990) is my dark-horse candidate to start opposite of David Garrett at cornerback.
Yes, I know Nigel Malone looked pretty good in the spring game and is slated to start, but I think Daily can be special.
In fact, I hope he's so good that Malone can start opposite of him. That would free Garrett to return to his most instinctive role — making plays off the ball as a nickel cornerback/third safety.
As a freshman, Daily played in 10 games for the Buccaneers as Cam Newton marched them to a national championship. He contributed with 37 tackles, five interceptions and three fumble recoveries.
What's really crazy is that Daily grew up in College Station, attended A&M Consolidated High School and played two seasons at Blinn for Brad Franchione, who had recruiting ties to Texas A&M. Yet Daily isn't an Aggie. Lucky man.
