Ryan Doerr (b. June 19, 1989) is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated punters in the nation. You don't hear much about him, but I would rate him behind only James Garcia and Tim Reyer based on his two seasons thus far.

Although projected backup Logan Ortiz appears to be a decent talent in his own right, there's no competition worth discussing here. More interesting to me is the chance that Doerr could challenge Anthony Cantele for kickoff duties.

With Cantele becoming the full-time place kicker now, it's possible Bill Snyder will want to reduce his work load in other areas, namely kickoffs. I'm not saying it's likely to happen, but even mentioned the possibility.

Anyhow, Doerr is a badass who's never, as far as I know, failed to take the field for a punt, thus causing a safety. But he won't have the ever-reliable Corey Adams snapping to him anymore. Will we have some punts blocked this year?
