Darryl Blackmon is a hulking beast of a man. He's every bit of a legitimate 6-foot-8 and he's he seriously ripped, to boot. On top of that, he's apparently tearing it up in the weight room this summer.

Figuring out where that beast factors into our plans is a little unclear. Blackmon will enter the fall listed as a defensive tackle, and while there's no reason to think he can't be effective there at his size, I envision a different fate for him.

Look at the photo above. Doesn't that frame just scream offensive tackle in the making? It's no wonder he basically was able to talk Bill Snyder into giving him a scholarship, with nothing but a phone call and an in-person interview.

The road Blackmon traveled to end up at a Division I program is long and winding, probably too much so to revisit here. If you're a premium member, you'll likely find this link far more informative than anything I can write.

The long and short of it is that K-State's final addition to the 2011 class (no one even knew he was coming until late May) has only been playing football for two or three years. Raw doesn't even begin to describe his skills.

That means he's a pretty sure bet to redshirt this year so the coaches can figure out what his best position is. But even taking a chance on him implies they think he's a tantalizing prospect. And it's no wonder why.
