#95 Ray Kibble |
Position: Defensive Tackle Previous College: Navarro College Projection: Starter Status: On Scholarship |
Ray L. Kibble (b. Jan. 22, 1990) underwhelmed a little bit last season, but given that he was a mainstay at defensive tackle alongside Prizell Brown down the stretch, that's most likely because we tend to have way too high of expectations for JUCO players who don't arrive until the summer.
The progress he made at the end of 2010 put Kibble in line to be penciled in as a starter heading into spring practice, and the spring game indicated he didn't do anything in 15 practices to jeopardize that position.
Expect Kibble to open the 2011 season beside Raphael Guidry as senior starters on the interior defensive line.
Both will have to fight to keep their spots — competition will ramp up quickly once Bo Tillman and Vai Lutui arrive.
If nothing else, you have to like Kibble's size and experience at the position. If he can bring more a consistent effort, he'll remain a starter throughout the year. If not, he'll still be a huge part of a much deeper rotation.
