RPI WATCH: 2/17/2011

Wednesday night was a bad night for the state of Oklahoma. Both OU and Oklahoma State fell, albeit in different ways.

Oklahoma lost an absolute heart-breaker when Cade Davis' apparent game-tying/overtime-forcing 3-pointer was ruled a 2 instead.

Unfortunately for the Sooners, the ruling was not made until after they elected not to foul Nebraska on the final possession of the game, thus turning a celebratory moment in the world's second-biggest downer ending.

(The worst, of course, came as recently as Saturday in Boulder, Colo. Let's not revisit that.)

Only slightly worse than suffering a home loss to Nebrasketball on a technicality was OSU receiving its second straight ass-kicking at the hands of the Texas Longhorns.

It's hard for the Cowboys to control the cows when they just don't have enough bullets in the ol' six-shooter.

Meanwhile, Texas A&M sleepwalked its way to a home victory over Iowa State in the college basketball's worst mismatch — the team that never loses a close game versus the team that never wins a close game.

Guess what? The Aggies beat the Cyclones in a very close game. Shocking!

Finally, Duke, Emporia State and Loyola all took care of business, making a third straight day that the Cats' non-conference foes swept their conference opposition.
