The only K-State opponent in action Monday night was Missouri. The win was nice, but the Tigers' biggest gain might have been Vanderbilt entering the AP poll and cementing the Commodores as a quality win for Mizzou.
Anyhow, the game against Northern Illinois was over in 20 minutes, when Missouri led 57-17. There's no denying the impressiveness of a half like that. Normally when you score even 50 points in a half (and that alone is highly impressive), it's because you're in a high-tempo game and the other team has 30+ points.
Well, the Tigers did that and ate their cake, too, holding the Huskies to less than 20 points in a stellar first-half defensive performance. I guess we shouldn't be too surprised, however. Despite being a recognizable directional team, Ricardo Patton's team now is 3-7 and looks even worse that most of his Colorado teams.
Of course, Mizzou lost interest at halftime and the predictable letdown occurred: The Huskies outscored the Tigers 44-40 in the second half and left Columbia with a much more respectable 97-61 loss. No word yet on whether Mike Anderson shed his jacket at any point in the second frame.
