RPI WATCH: 12/11/2010

If you thought Thursday night was boring, wait'll you get a look at Friday night.

Washington State steamrolled another over-matched opponent at home. Woo.

Better than losing, I suppose.

And Iowa State made the transitive property its bitch by winning in Iowa City against an Iowa team that beat the Northern Iowa team that beat Fred Hoiberg's bunch earlier this year. Go figure.

Scott Christopherson had a career-high 30 points and proved once more that you better not ever leave him open.

Meanwhile, Iowa State's stud freshman guard Melvin Ejim continues to surprise.

Given how underwhelming Oklahoma State and Texas A&M have been, and how overrated Colorado and Texas Tech were, the Cyclones could make some noise this year and push for an NIT berth. That would be an insanely good year for a team picked 12th in the Big 12.

Stay tuned today, because there are a ton of games involving our opponents — and us — that could have a big RPI impact as basketball begins to wrestle the spotlight away from football for good.
