K-State Slate, 3/10/08

It may be time for a short lull in the basketball season, but things will be cranking away here at BOTC this week in preparation for the Big 12 men's and women's tournaments.

Congratulations to Michael Beasley, the Big 12 Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, all-rookie team, and first team all-conference selection.  Yep, he's pretty good.  Props also to Bill Walker, all-conference third team and all-rookie team selection.

Get ready, Kansas City, the Big 12 tournaments and about 35,000 fans are coming.  Including me.  Check back here later today or tomorrow over at 12th Manchild for my guide to Kansas City and the Big 12 tournament.  Suggestions and questions welcome, as always, at bringonthecats@gmail.com

For today at least, it's a Wildcat City.  The KC Star has its year-end awards, and the men's and women's player of the year winners are both from K-State.  Congrats to Shalee Lehning and Michael Beasley.

From the Topeka Capital-Journal, I just got around to reading this interesting Austin Meek column, where he pokes fun at "bracketologists."  Unfortunately, I got around to reading it about three days late because the TCJ has had Tully Corcoran's columns up on the K-State page for about the last four days, and I was too lazy to check the chicken page to see if they had Meek's stuff over there.  Plus I had to look at Corcoran's face every day.

That's about it for today.  Sorry it's kind of a thin Slate, but that's what I got.  Remember, Kansas City preview coming later today, though it will be far more interesting to fans of other teams than K-Staters.  I'm into that whole "public-service" thing, I guess.
