Volleyball Tonight: K-State vs. Oregon

Fate sure has aligned itself in a funny way this week.  On Thursday, the men's basketball team lost a heartbreaker to the Oregon Ducks in the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Classic.  Tonight, the volleyball team will take on the Ducks in the second round of the NCAA tournament at Ahearn Fieldhouse.  There were a lot of great comments about the crowd at the basketball game on Thursday, so let's extend that support to the women tonight and fill the old barn.

Gametime is 7 p.m.  Both teams advanced with 3-0 wins in the opening round.  The Wildcats dropped Tulsa, 30-24, 30-20, 30-23, while the Ducks survived a couple tough games with Missouri State, winning 31-29, 30-20, 31-29.

Keep it up, Cats!

In other 'news,' BOTC favorite Bob Lutz discusses Michael Beasley's--and K-State's--potential this year.  He doesn't seem to think having David Hoskins would make any difference, because he's not a three-point threat.  Agreed that we need three-point shooting and that Hoskins is not a three-point threat, but you can't replace the heart and leadership he brings to the floor.

It also appears Nebraska will hire Bo Pelini as its new head coach.  At this point, I'm indifferent about this hire because I'm much more concerned about the problems we are facing in Manhattan.  Suffice it to say, I've never seen in Pelini what a lot of Nebraska fans seem to see.  I've been wrong many times before, and with finals coming up I'll probably be wrong a lot in the next 10 days.

Feel free to use this post as an open thread, either to discuss the volleyball game or any of the football games going on today, especially Mizzou-Oklahoma.  I'll be back for the MU/OU game, until then it's full steam ahead into income tax.
