Former K-State consensus All-American Mark Simoneau will become just the second Wildcat football player and first under head coach Bill Snyder to earn college football's most prestigious honor as the former linebacker was announced today as part of the National Football Foundation's College Football Hall of Fame induction class of 2012.

The National Football Foundation today revealed the ballot for the 2012 College Football Hall of Fame induction class. Among the 76 Division I-A players nominated are former Bulldogs Matt Stinchcomb and Scott Woerner. The travesty that is Erk Russell's exclusion continues. Go 'Dawgs!

The National Football Foundation announced the 2011 College Football Hall of Fame divisional class today, and the late Georgia defensive coordinator and Georgia Southern head coach Erk Russell wasn't on the list. Dawg Sports wants to figure out how to remedy that indefensible omission.

I'm ashamed to say I forgot to renew my membership in the National Football Foundation after the initial (though not final) effort to get Erk Russell enshrined failed, so I wasn't able to vote for him, but former Georgia defensive back Jake Scott will be going into the College Football Hall of Fame in the 2011 induction class. Scott was the first of three former Bulldogs to enjoy a pro career in which he was named a Super Bowl MVP. Go 'Dawgs!

Following a 39-14 win over Texas and securing bowl eligibility for the first time since the 2006 season, Kansas State checked in at No. 24 in this week's Bowl Championship Series standings released Sunday by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame. The Wildcats' average in the computer polls was No. 20 this week, boosting K-State into the BCS standings.

K-State No. 22 in First BCS Standings Released

Following a 5-1 start to the 2010 campaign, Kansas State checked in at No. 22 in the season's first Bowl Championship Series standings released Sunday by the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame. The BCS ratings are calculated by averaging the percentage totals of the Harris Interactive Poll, USA Today Coaches Poll and computer rankings. K-State, which has collected non-conference wins over UCLA and UCF to go along with its 2-1 Big 12 record, checked in at No. 27 in this week's USA Today and AP polls, ranked 25th in the Harris Poll, and was ranked 19th according to the computer ratings.
