Aaron Watkins shot a two-over-par 72 in the third round of the U.S. Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. After three rounds, he is tied for 18th at five over par. A good round today would give Watkins a chance to finish in the top 10, which would make him exempt for the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club in Merion, Pa.

Gianna Misenhelter recorded her third top-20 finish of the season and the Kansas State women's golf team carded its best three-round score of the year at the Johnie Imes Invitational on Tuesday.

Continuing in that proud tradition of K-State men's teams finishing in fourth place, the golf team (Links Cats?) finished in fourth place at the Big 12 Championship, played over the last three days at Prairie Dunes in Hutchinson. Particular congrats go to Robert Streb for finishing in third place with an impressive even-par 280, and to Mitchell Gregson for firing a four-under-par 66 in the final round. Regional assignments should be announced soon, and I would imagine Tim Norris' crew will be included this year. Congrats!
