Source close to Frank Martin just told me Martin has agreed in principle to become South Carolina's coach. Press conference tomorrow.
And John Currie is still not taking phone calls.
News is traveling fast. Legit SC newspaper reporter says USC is expecting to hire Martin tomorrow. My sources tell me no done deal, but ...
Prominent donors to K-State athletics have told me they're done giving money to K-State if Frank Martin is gone and John Currie remains
Just got off the phone with Frank Martin's agent. When asked about South Carolina he tells me, "We have had conversations."
Martin remains the basketball coach at Kansas State, but it's already begun. After complaining via text that I couldn't get Currie to return a phone call on Saturday night, a response from a different member of Martin's camp appeared immediately.
"Welcome to Frank's world," the message said. A relationship that has always been somewhat fractured is in the process of crumbling.
The portrait in your head is accurate. Has been for a while. This is just the first time it has manifested itself semi-publicly.
I am not a proponent of a multi-round college football playoff system. While it would certainly be interesting for fans, I do not think it is in the best interest of our football student-athletes. Generally the season is long enough considering the physical demands of the game and the fact that the players are indeed supposed to be students first.
Obviously, we are buoyed by the commitments of our existing colleagues and league institutions to preserve the Big 12 Conference and its position as one of the nation’s top leagues. Our sincere appreciation goes to all of our league partners, and certainly Big 12 Commissioner Dan Beebe and his staff, for their hard work during this process. Our league has a very bright future, and we are looking forward to new levels of growth and opportunity.
