Former Ohio State CB (and current Minnesota Viking) Antoine Winfield on the question "Will anyone ever match Archie Griffin as a two time Heisman Winner?" From the latest issue of The Sporting News.

I always tell Herschel he's got my Heisman.

Eric Dickerson, hitherto known as the worst sideline reporter in the history of football at any level, adds another stupendously dumb statement to a lifelong litany of unbridled idiocy. (Hat tip: David Hale.) I can only hope Eric Dickerson is planning a mixed martial arts career. Go 'Dawgs!

I think we haven't fully digested what the implications of that might be.

University of Florida art history professor Eric Segal questions the propriety of erecting a statue of Tim Tebow alongside statues of the Gators' other Heisman Trophy winners. Professor Segal evidently is concerned that Tebow one day might do something to embarrass the school. Heck, I thought it was weird when it came out that Herschel Walker had some kind of personality disorder, but I was in favor of raising a statue of each of the Goal Line Stalker's allegedly multiple personalities. I think the media love for Tebow goes overboard, but, for crying out loud, who's worried about sending the wrong message by setting up someone like him as a role model? Go 'Dawgs!

I'm in Orlando for the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards, and I had the chance to speak with Graham Harrell right after he learned he had not been invited to New York for the Heisman ceremony. Texas Tech's senior quarterback from Ennis - standing in the same hallway as invitees Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow when he heard the news - handled the disappointment with class. "It is what it is," he said. "We had a special season...that's what we focused on. "They a lot of times base who goes to the Heisman as picking one of the best players off one of the best teams. We won as many games as anyone. "I felt like Crab [receiver Michael Crabtree] or I or someone on our team was more than worthy of being there. If we don't get picked that's the way it goes. "Programs' reputation has a lot to do with that. Texas Tech has never been a big-name program. Hopefully this year winning as many big games as we've had, Texas Tech can build on that...and allow players to get more recognition, more often."
