Alabama is 1, and Boise stays at 3 but picks up 8 first place votes after last night's contest.

(Scott Carter of the Tampa Tribune is the only local media member with a vote.) Alabama is #1, to the surprise of no one. Among this season's opponents, Florida is #4, Miami is #13, Pittsburgh is #15, and West Virginia is #25. Cincinnati is the first team in the "also receiving votes" category. Speaking of which, USF received no votes. Really? Even SMU got a vote, and it wasn't from Craig James.

KU is joined by four other Big 12 teams in the top 14: Oklahoma is fourth, Missouri is sixth, Texas is 11th and Texas Tech is 12th. Georgia is the preseason No. 1, earning the top spot in the AP preseason poll for the first time in school history.
